<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">1959:</span></strong> Buddy Holly dies in a plane crash, along with Ritchie Valens and others. Chuck Berry is accused of statutory rape. The payola scandal erupts. Elvis does his military service at a US base in West Germany.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">1960:</span></strong> The Beatles perform for the first time in Hamburg; Germany.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">1961:</span></strong> Robert Zimmerman, Known as Bob Dylan, performs for the first time at folk city, a Greenwich Village Club.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">1963:</span></strong> The Beatles record “<em>Please Please Me</em>” .Another British group takes the name The Rolling Stones. Martin Luther King,Jr. leads the demonstration on Washington.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">1964:</span></strong> The Beatles arrive in the US to a hysterical welcome. In San Francisco the warlocks (later known as the Grateful Dead) start performing.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;"> 1965:</span></strong> Dylan Is booed at the Newport Folk Festival. He records the album <em>Highway 61 Revisited</em>, which includes the historic cut “like a rolling stone:, The Rolling Stones record “<em>I Cant Get No (Satisfaction</em>)”</p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">1970:</span></strong> The Beatles officially spilt up. Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin died.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">1973:</span></strong> Pink Floyd releases <em>The Dark Side Of The Moon</em>, an album that would sell an extraordinary 13 million copies.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">1987:</span></strong> U2’s album <em>The Joshua Tree</em> hits number one all over the world. Nirvana debuts.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">1991:</span></strong> Nirvana releases <em>Nevermind</em>, which would ultimately sell 10 million copies. Metallica’s album <em>Metallica </em>is released.</p>
